Join CYAN for an exciting and significant volunteer opportunity with SAVIS (Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services) 27th annual event, Take Back the Night.
Here is some important information about the event:
Halton’s Take Back the Night provides a space to challenge the culture of violence and create a safer community by empowering women and educating male allies.
The first half-hour of the event is dedicated to networking and viewing community information booths, which will be followed by empowering keynote addresses from Halton survivors of sexual violence, as well as musical and spoken word performances. There will be a peaceful anti-violence march for women, children, and trans people through the streets of Oakville, and a male ally solidarity event chaired by the Male Ally Network (M.A.N.)
We invite all of Halton’s residents to attend TBTN and to say “NO” to violence in our community! Volunteers are welcome to invite their family and friends!
Important Information for Volunteers:
Youth volunteers will assist with marshalling traffic, creating posters, serving refreshments, assisting with various booths/activities, and female and trans volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in the womens only march. During this time, male volunteers will participate in a solidarity event lead by the Male Ally Network.
Due to the nature of the event, CYAN is requesting a majority of female volunteers for this opportunity. However, if you are passionate about women's empowerment, please attend the event even if you do not wish/or are unable to volunteer.
