About

On Friday November 27th CYAN held their first ever PA Day program.

It was a busy day filled with fun and new experiences.  Youth met at Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre in the morning and took cabs to Eden Food for Change to help out at the food bank in the morning.  There we sorted all recent donations of food by date so that food that goes out of date sooner will be given out first and food with longer dates can be kept for later.  We unpacked, sorted, and boxed a LOT of food!  Then we were lucky enough to have a tour of Eden and learn about the different programs that they run for the community.  These programs include fresh food boxes available for order every Friday, and the opportunity for organizations to go in and cook preprepared dinners for distribution by the foodbank as well as the regular foodbank.  From Eden we took the city bus to Putting Edge where we had a little fun playing glow in the dark mini golf.  Lastly, we headed back to OPNC to prepare for the afterschool program's Christmas party.  There we made gingerbread houses and playdough with some of the kids.

Overall, it was a pretty great day!  We hope to see you out at our next PA Day in February.
